Hello,

I am new in data protection about Hitachi Storage Systems, and i would like to understand the difference between HTI (Thin Image) and SS (Copy-On-Write Snapshot).

Can you explain me the differences ?

I have seen that Copy On Write (COW) and Copy After Write (CAW) is already different closing to the type choice of the snapshot pool (COW or CAW).

But sadly, i don't understand at this time the difference between HTI and SS.

Thanks in advance,

Best regards.

The Copy on Write snapshot product was wholly replaced by HTI.  HTI is vastly more scalable (1024 snapshots per PVol, and up to 1M snapshots depending on array type), and provides much better host response time (due to the copy AFTER write mechanics).
