Hi,

At customers site we have installed HCP-AW 3.1 and the installation is running in a Citrix environment. To prevent files to be stored locally in the different user profiles, the customer has already set the reg keys:

AllowSaveLocally 0

AllowOffineRead 0

AllowOffineWrite 0

Nevertheless files are still stored locally and thus using disk space and the sync process during the login procedure is taking too long.

Anybody an idea how to prevent this behaviour?

BR Ralf

There are 3 states to files in HCP Anywhere:

1) Save local - PINNED to desktop for offline access

2) Cached - locally available for temporary use - when reading a file or updating a file

3) Stubbed - pointer to a file in HCP Anywhere

When you read a stubbed file it is brought into the client cache for access on the desktop.  When you write or modify a file on the desktop it is stored in the cache and saved to HCP Anywhere.

In addition to SAVE LOCALLY setting, the admin can control the cache size.  It is can small or large.  This determines how many files are stored temporarily for the user.

Also, we have a new setting in AW 3.1 Hotfix1 that allows customers to clear the cache on logout.

Hi Rajiv,

thx a lot for your quick answer. I will discuss that with the customer tomorrow.

Hi Rajiv,

We installed the Hotfix in the morning in the customers environment and then the customer applied the reg keys and the logon/off script for deleting the cache. Works really fine so far and one main issue seems to be resolved!!

We are still struggeling with the "silent installation" with v3.1 in the Citrix environment (still popups but everything is configured) but we are a big step further :-) Thx a lot for the explanaitions about the file behaviour in the desktop client and the hint about the hotfix.
