Hi community,

I try to connect the "Email messages input" step to my Office365 account, but authentication keeps failing (but sending emails works).

My settings are:

Source host: outlook.office365.com

Use SSL: Yes

Port: 993

Username: my.email@domain.com (I use my own custom domain)

Password: I set up an app specific password and also tried my regular password

Protocol: IMAP

(Update: I just enabled IMAP in the "mailbox features", but I still get the same error message).

When testing the connection, I get this error:

Can not connected (sic!) to outlook.office365.com. Error while connecting to host [outlook.office365.com] with username [my.email@domain.com] on port [993].

AUTHENTICATE failed.

Could somebody help me out here?

Merci,

Gert

I have the same problem: cannot download anything in IMAP from O365 shared mailbox.

It work in thunderbird but not on Spoon

PS: username should be in this form my.email@domainc.com\<shared-mailbox-alias>

Any hint???

I gave up since then and moved to another provider (mailbox.org), and I never looked back.

(I'm not MS-bashing here, I just felt that for my personal purposes, an O365 mailbox wouldn't work for me.)

Ok, i've fount that it work with POP3 (pop3s, secured) and not with imap.

It works with the form user@contoso.com\shared-mailbox-alias-not-the-email-address

Hello @Gert Wieland and @Federico Boldori,

If I recall correctly, IMAP is turned off by default in Office365.

Can you check if your mailbox has the IMAP setting enabled?

Hello @Sergio Ribeiro

yes the IMAP service was on for that shared folder.

I've testes it with a local thunderbird installed on the same machine where I run spoon.

The same shared folder is also accessed via IMAP from other sistems.

Hello @Federico Boldori,

Can you try removing the "\<shared-mailbox-alias>"?

No, becouse this is not how office365 accessing an imap mailbox works.

By the fact that shared mailbox has no user, they work using credentials provided by the users that has the access granted. Microsoft implementation of this kind of access use the \<shared-mailbox-alias> pattern to identify what mailbox should be access by IMAP. Using the username without the alias has no meaning for O365, and will not work.
