  • 1.  Disk usage different in Solaris OS and Hitachi storage

    Posted 11-19-2021 12:04

    Dear all,

I removed all files of a LUN on Solaris OS.
Hitachi storage device still shows 99% used. I have reclaimed the LUN, but it doesn't change the status.
    Solaris OS: 11.4.
    Hitachi Storage: VSP E990.
    How to solve the problem?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Assuming the LUN is a zfs zpool, if you have an snapshot, the storage blocks are being held by it.

Also can you confirm if the HMO is set to 09 Solaris?

    Kind Regards,

    Hi all,
When you delete a file in Solaris, it actually is not physically deleted. So the pool does not show this as free space.
The TRIM command is to reclaim unused space on thin-provisioned storage. It helps by actually deleting
the free'd pages when a file is deleted.
