Hitachi Unified Compute Platform 6000 for Oracle Real Application Clusters on Two Nodes Using Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G600, Hitachi Accelerated Flash, and Hitachi Compute Blade 2500 With Intel Xeon E5-2667 v3 Processor CPUs shows how using Hitachi Unified Compute Platform 6000 for Oracle Real Application Clusters (UCP for Oracle RAC) provides a high performance, integrated solution for an Oracle infrastructure. This solution provides customers with an architecture that enables a sustaining Oracle database performance while saving license costs with the use of the Intel Xeon E5-2667 v3 CPUs - 8 core CPUs. The environment uses Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G600 (VSP G600) with Hitachi Accelerated Flash (HAF). Use this document to design an infrastructure for a customer’s requirements and budget.

 

This validated solution integrates servers, storage systems, network, and storage software. The environment provides reliability, high availability, scalability, and performance while processing small-scale to large-scale OLTP workloads. The dedicated servers run Oracle Database 12c Release 1 with the Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) option. The operating system is Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.6.

 

Overview

 

This is a high level view of the tested architecture for the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform 6000 for Oracle Real Application Cluster solution. The validated environment implements Hitachi Unified Compute Platform 6000 for Oracle Real Application Clusters on two nodes using Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G600 with Hitachi Accelerated Flash. In this configuration, a Hitachi Compute Blade 2500 and  520H B3 half-width server blades with Intel Xeon E5-2667 v3 processor CPUs are used.
