Extending to the Cloud: Tear Down the Walls

It’s getting cloudy everywhere now. Many of our customers are looking to create a private, on-premise service using cloud principles. And they’re getting frustrated with the need for additional tools and services when they want to extend workloads into the public cloud.

You probably know that the VMware Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) is now native on Amazon Web Services (AWS). VMware Cloud allows you to run VMware vSphere-based applications on next generation AWS infrastructure.

It’s a major step forward in tearing down the walls of the data center and giving you a transparent transition to a hybrid cloud deployment. It means you can take advantage of public space while maintaining control of your primary datasets, and without compromising on data governance.

Our close partnership with VMware has allowed us to align our own private cloud architecture closely with the opportunities and efficiencies created by VMware Cloud. The Hitachi Vantara Unified Compute Platform RS (UCP RS) gives you complete control, enabling cloud services in your data center, powered by the VMware Virtual Cloud Foundation solution.

This is the borderless data center, with a seamless connection between your on-premise deployment and VMware Cloud on AWS. It’s ideal if you’re looking to migrate applications to the public cloud, develop new applications, or extend the capacity of your data centers for existing applications.

It’s also a great solution for rapid provisioning and development and test environments. And, of course, this architecture offers strong and flexible Disaster Recovery (DR) characteristics, allowing recovery site deployment in a public space, with geographic isolation capabilities.
