One Year Anniversary – Hyderabad Shared Services Center

Tuesday, November 7, 2017 marked the one-year anniversary of the opening of our Shared Services Center (SSC) located in Hyderabad, India. Since coming to Hitachi in 2015, it has been my vision to create a state-of-the-art Shared Services Center that offers smart and cost-effective IT services to companies within our Hitachi family by leveraging the strength of our global team. I am so proud of our global IT team for helping bring this vision to full fruition.


A year ago today, we launched a 150-person capacity Shared Services Center with our partner, Hitachi Consulting
Company (HCC) availing the already established HCC brand presence and operational support to new hires. With a strong and growing workforce, our Hyderabad Shared Services Center today provides services that range from desktop support to security, analytics and application development.


Partnering with HCC was a win-win. Mutual benefits that have resulted from our partnering include but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstration of the value of collaboration and agility allowed our IT team to meet its investment commitment of “Business Value in Six Months or less.” This Shared Services facility was operational six months after the decision was made to partner with HCC.
  • Within a span of nine months, HCC filled 76 of the current targeted 85 new hire requisitions that were spread across various technologies – Service Desk, Systems Admins, DBAs, Network Operations, Security, Voice Support, BI & Data Analytics, CRM/SFDC, Digital Technologies, PMO, Quality, Automation and Oracle Apps. These new hires are a testament to the strong partnership between our two companies.
  • The partnership helped us optimally use resources and established a presence in the Hyderabad market, while at the same time promoting the HDS, and now Vantara name. It also helped Hitachi Vantara quickly ramp up by using HCC’s established Back Office processes, operations and practices. 
  • By leveraging a more expanded global model, Hitachi Vantara IT has found diversity of thought and solutions, while optimizing cost to operate.  Even more than ever, Hitachi Vantara IT is contributing to our company’s transformation.


As we celebrate our one-year, the Hitachi Vantara IT team should be very proud. We have achieved nearly 90% of our hiring goals to date; we have launched an IT Shared Services offering that harnesses the power of a global IT talent pool to deliver outcome-based IT services to businesses within the Hitachi family.


We’ll be hosting a celebration in the Hyderabad office when I’m there next month. My hats off to all of you who had a hand in demonstrating the power of One Global Hitachi through our Hyderabad Shared Services Center!
