My name is Samantha Campbell and I just recently graduated from a small private university located in Salem, Oregon who now works at HDS. Then I was off into the “real world” with excitement and a smile on my face ready to start my new job at Hitachi Data Systems. This is only my first week at HDS and I have to say that it is not what I expected it to be. That’s a great thing! Being the “new kid on the block”, it did worry me that I wouldn’t be fitting in all too well. But that was quickly put to rest. The employees of Hitachi Data Systems are wonderful people, and I am glad to be a part of such an amazing company. As a business student in college, I recall people giving me advice that, “when faced with fear or anxiety- face that fear with a smile”. I remembered that going into HDS, however the “fear or anxiety” that they mentioned never came. At orientation there was a phrase that was going around that I heard multiple times, and that is "HDS Family" the idea that Hitachi Data Systems is your family. When going into a new stage in your life you want to make sure you unify with your surroundings and get to know as many people as possible. But the family concept is intriguing because you normally hear that professional and personal life as being separated, but in this phrase they are together and the same. It's only been a few days, but in that time alone I have experienced first hand on how much care and support this company has for its employees.
Funny enough, I actually do have family here. Both of my parents work in the Santa Clara HDS office along with me, as pictured above. If you recognize them then you probably have seen them in the Santa Clara office. We all work in different departments within Hitachi Data Systems. I work in Marketing, my father is in Logistics, and my mother is in Information Technology (IT). My mom was the first to work at HDS. So Hitachi Data Systems has been a part of my life ever since I was a little kid. When she would take me to work when I was little I dreamed of being a businesswoman. Everything seemed so pristine and organized. Even though a lot of it has changed it still is the place that I remember as being a wonderful place. And now in 2016, my dreams have become a reality. Walking in between the cubicles takes me back to my youth and sparks my memories. To know that my family works here and being able to carpool with them, gives me allotted time to catch up and joke with them in the car. I have loved every bit of it so far and I will continue to embrace my inner-child with Hitachi Data Systems.
It’s great to know that my family at Hitachi Data Systems has grown!
