The International Broadcast Conference has just concluded and was held from September 11-16th in Amsterdam. There were many new technology directions that were the focus of the conference with some key themes:
Cloud based workflow
Cloud based broadcast
software defined workflow
software defined broadcast
End-to-End OTT solutions
The interesting trend about these key themes is that broadcast is moving at an accelerating rate primarily being served from Telecom and Cable operators instead of traditional linear broadcast. OTT or Over The Top is already approaching becoming the primary method that consumers will watch their programming whether it be movies or episodic shows. Content creators will need to be more dynamic at responding to programming trends and changes through different creation and distribution methods that will increasingly become software defined and cloud based. Content Security must be interlaced throughout the process of content creation to content consumption.
Hitachi has a variety of solutions to address this market well such as CDN capabilities with HCP, Network Analytics to determine video consumption and optimization, as well as media optimized infrastructure for fast parallel file-systems, metadata driven content repositories, and video servers infrastructure.
