Supporting our Partners with Hitachi Enterprise Cloud

Blog Post created by Steve Garone Employee on Oct 12, 2016

Last week’s installment of our cloud service provider-focused blog series discussed how Hitachi’s Unified Compute Platform (UCP) can help our partners reliably and securely deliver the cloud services their customers are looking for at the service levels they expect.

This week, Hitachi has announced Hitachi Enterprise Cloud for VMware vRealize. Built on the UCP platform, Hitachi Enterprise Cloud takes an “application-centric” approach to private and hybrid cloud.  This turnkey solution allows agile deployment through automated application and workload provisioning of current legacy applications, as well as container-based, cloud native, and dev ops applications.

Hitachi Enterprise Cloud also takes the complexity out of the management of the solution stack by integration of UCP, UCP Director (our management software solution for our converged infrastructure) VMWare vCenter and vRealize. This makes Hitachi Enterprise Cloud more than just a collection of hardware and software – it enables the modeling and profiling of applications and the ability to match them to pre-engineered, pre-built service catalogs within a unified service portal. The result is that applications can be used and managed on a true self-service basis, easing the task of implementing a private/hybrid cloud.  The solution is genuinely “turnkey” and “ready to use”.

Organizations today – whether they are end user companies or service providers – are focused on increasing the efficiency of their application environments. This is true whether they are working with existing/legacy applications, new applications, or a combination. This is a major element of the digital transformation we see happening all around us as companies use digital technology to enable fundamental innovation and disruption.

For our cloud service providers, Hitachi Enterprise Cloud offers a number of significant advantages. First, with this solid, pre-built solution, providers can avoid the time, effort, and cost of designing and constructing their own architectures from the ground up. Their cloud – the foundation on which they deploy and deliver cloud services to their customers – can be ready to go.

Second, our cloud service providers differentiate themselves with their customers through the valued added services and domain expertise they offer that bring these customers the advantages of the cloud. So in addition to leveraging Hitachi Enterprise Cloud as their infrastructure foundation for cloud service delivery, service providers can also offer the solution as a private/hybrid cloud option for their end user customers.

Our turnkey Hitachi Enterprise Cloud solution also includes both required and optional pre- and post-sales professional and delivery services.  Our cloud service provider partners may prefer that HDS deliver these services, or they may decide – perhaps because they have existing practices focused on high value, high margin service practices of their own – to deliver them on their own. Either way, Hitachi is committed to working with our service provider partners to make Hitachi Enterprise Cloud a success, including sharing our services frameworks and IP with our partners who decide to go to market alongside us.

For those partners who are committed to delivering digital transformation solutions (including an investment in cloud consulting and application transformation services), are trained and certified on our UCP solution and may have vRealize skills, and may be looking to deploy greater automation and standardization within their customers’ datacenters, we believe Hitachi Enterprise Cloud will be a compelling solution for expanding their revenue streams. For their customers, Hitachi Enterprise Cloud is our newest way of helping providers deliver cloud services “Powered by Hitachi Data Systems”.
