Powershell set-acl unauthorized access, but GUI works

Question asked by A000FE3B on Dec 8, 2016

I created a folder on a CIFS share on HNAS. After creating the folder, I wanted to change the permissions on the folder using Powershell commands Get-Acl and Set-Acl. The PS script gives an error "Unauthorized access" when trying to run the Set-Acl command. When trying to go through the GUI on the same Windows server using the same account, it works!

If it was really unauthorized access, I wouldn't be able to do that through Windows GUI. Is it due to the fact that the folder is a CIFS share folder on HNAS?

PS: I'm still new to HNAS, especially when trying to automate.
