LDEV ID's missing after Volume was deleted

I created a volume and manually assigned the LDEV ID.  I later deleted this volume.  Now I'd like to create a new volume and re-use the same LDEV ID but it's no longer available in the list.  How do I go about re-adding this LDEV ID to the storage unit?
