Content Class Date extraction

I am using a content class to extract date string in the format YYYY/MM/DD from the following string "/email/111/2015/05/04/09/00/".

The content property pattern is defined as [0-9]{4}/[0-9]{2}/[0-9]{2}.

The expected output is 2015/05/04, but what i always end up getting is "Mon May 04 00:00:00 UTC 2015".

The content class test returns the correct value, but when i test my pipeline the string is converted to a date internally.

The date conversion stage gives me what i want, but i  don't understand why content class does not give me the desired format.

Both use the same regular expressions.
