I have to migrate data ( NAS and SAN based) from Netapp to HDS. How can I do it? WHat details should i consider? Can i use any tool to do it?
This is a broad topic. I'll answer a part of it.
You have a lot of options. Depending on what your environment is, and your requirements there are a number of ways to do it.
For the block storage you can use any/all of the following:
HDS offers services to migrate data, as well.
I will add that information about Virtualization migration can be found in the VSP Universal Volume Manager Users Guide. This type of migration requires a reboot of the host to switch to new logical paths, but then the host can continue to access its volumes while the data migration takes place in the background. No interruption is needed when the migration is finished.
I'm not a NAS expert but there is a similar process for virtualized migration at the NAS protocol level for NFS. If that is not preferred or CIFS/SMB is required then typically this is done with a tool like robocopy and access permission migration seems to be the typical area of difficulty.
