I'm trying to find information on how the hierarchy of multiple retentions is managed on HCP.
We have an actual stockage system with a certain volume of objects that are in 'different ages' of their retention period and the project to replace the actual stockage system with a HCP and migrate the objects to this HCP.
When I learned that namespaces could have default retention class assigned, I thought that it would nice to benefit from that and was thinking of using it for the new objects that are created. But as I don't want the objects migrated to reset their retention period, I'm trying to figure out how the HCP will react if, for the objects that is migrated, my application posts (through the REST API) a new retention period that is shorter than the period of the default retention class of the namespace. Will it surpass the default retention class? If not, how can I do that?
