Questions about installing Pentaho 8.1 CE server on Linux.

Question asked by Sebastian Wierzbicki on Aug 27, 2018

Hi!

I am trying to set up Pentaho 8.1 CE server on my Debian 8.

i am following the steps of Prepare Your Linux Environment for a Manual Installation - Pentaho Documentation

Use PostgreSQL as Your Repository Database (Manual Installation) - Pentaho Documentation

and i have some questions.

I am also using Pentaho 8.1 CE server manual installation.

1. First of all, when i am using Pentaho 8.1 CE server should i add this code to the jackrabbit repository.xml?

<Journal class="org.apache.jackrabbit.core.journal.DatabaseJournal">

  <param name="revision" value="${rep.home}/revision.log"/>

  <param name="url" value="jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/jackrabbit"/>

  <param name="driver" value="org.postgresql.Driver"/>

  <param name="user" value="jcr_user"/>

  <param name="password" value="password"/>

  <param name="schema" value="postgresql"/>

  <param name="schemaObjectPrefix" value="cl_j_"/>

  <param name="janitorEnabled" value="true"/>

  <param name="janitorSleep" value="86400"/>

  <param name="janitorFirstRunHourOfDay" value="3"/>

</Journal>

2. I also instaled JDBC driver and i unziped pentaho.war but i can't find context.xml in it, should i use Tomcat content.xml?

3. Since i am using CE version, should i still add the following lines to CATALINA_OPTS?

EXPORT CATALINA_OPTS="-Xms4096m -Xmx6144m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=3600000 -Dpentaho.installed.licenses.file=$PENTAHO_INSTALLED_LICENSE_PATH -DDI_HOME=$DI_HOME"

4. Is there a dedicated guide to CE server installation? i Couldnt find anything .

Thank you !
