Management server is not registered

I have a new VSP-G200 installed and responsive. The controllers and the SVP are accessible. We initially added the storage array to an existing HCS server and then removed it so that we could add it to a new HCS server.

Versions are:

HCS: 8.6.1-02

SVP: 83-05-21

When I click on the 'Components' link from the storage system in HCS the following error appears in the GUI:

Hitachi Command Suite management server is not registered as the external authentication server of SVP. To perform this operation, edit the storage system to register the Hitachi Command Suite management server as an external authentication server of SVP. (KAIC18623-E)

When I do what this error appears to suggest and edit the settings for the storage system in the Administration tab so that it re-registers the HCS server the task fails. 'Edit Storage Systems' task generates two subtasks - the 'Edit Storage System' subtask succeeds and the 'Enable Login Authentication' subtask fails with the following message:

A test communication with the external authentication server failed. (URL = snhttps443://<SVP_IP>/dev/storage/832000xxx063/webapi/HCSInfo, status code = CONNECTION_ERROR) (KAIC05934-E)

I have reviewed this post which describes a very similar position: a test communication with the external authentication server failed URL= snhttps443....

The suggested solution is to make sure that DNS resolution works from the SVP to the HCS server. Our SVP can resolve and ping the short name and the FQDN of the HCS server.

The server.properties file in C:\Program Files\HiCommand\DeviceManager\HiCommandServer\config currently has the line:

server.http.host=<HCS_IP>

Can anyone suggest a way forward?

Daniel
