I suggest taking the Hitachi's new Copy after Write than COW which in my view has much more performance impact due to it's nature of snapshot technology. But you need to check the MC version of your current array and if it is supported. CaW doesn't require acknowledgement back to source for next write so it takes off the load from P-Vol until the write pending is <60% .

For COW snapshot, I can take the snapshot from the PVOL directly, or do the COW snapshot from the SVOL after doing a Shadow Image copy. If I already own Shadow image and COW snapshot, what are the pros and cons of doing COW snapshot from PVOL (primary LUN's) versus SVOL (Shadow Image LUN's). I am looking the pros and cons in terms of recoverability and impact on performance for Production PVOL LUN's. Thanks
