We're using Pentaho 6.2. Errors are reported in the logging tab on Spoon. Where is this log written to on disk?
in ..\data-integration\logs\spoon.log. This files is deleteted and created when you start spoon.
Hi, thanks for this. Unfortunately, I don't see the logs directory. I launched Spoon and then went to C:\data-integration. There's no logs directory there. We have added some of our own plugins. Is there a way to specify an alternative location for the logs?
There is no version 6.2 so I think you are using 6.1?
I checked with version 6.1 and I noticed that in that version there is no log directory. I guess it from version 7.1 and higher.
I think the logging is managed in the log4j.xml file so you can have a look in that file
If you launch pentaho from console you can redirect the output to a file, you get a lot more information beside the errors, but you can filter the errors afterwards. Don't know the exact notation in Windows to launch from console, in Linux is something like this:
/path_to_pdi/data-integration/./spoon.sh > /path_to_your_logfile/mylogfile.log
In Windows you can do that with
\path_to_pid\data-integration\SpoonConsole.bat > \path_to_logfile\mylogfile.log
With spoonconsole.bat you send the logging to the console
