Are there any Rosetta Stone users here?
I have been learning Spanish online for around 6 months.
Very impressed so far but the hardest thing is finding the time
Andrew SleightI agree, it is time, commitment and focus.
Muchas Felicidades en tus estudios.
I've been really curious about Rosetta Stone since they advertise so heavily and are in every airport!
No personal experience with it - I have used a Basic Pimsleur course which I got through E-bay at a great price. It was very effective for me, taking about 2 months to go through right before a trip overseas. By no means was I fluent from a Level 1 course but way less lost than my wife who didn't know the language at all.
Pimsleur is designed to be 100% audio, mixing mother tongue with new language in various scenarios. Is that how Rosetta Stone is set up also?
Andrew - I just saw this discussion from December. We offer Rosetta Stone to our employees and currently have 261 employees globally studying 13 different languages (I'm studying Spanish). I like their teaching method. Dan Raines - they use rote memorization, gaming (alone or with other RS users) and live sessions with a native speaker. Your mother language is not used at all - it's sink or swim! Some of the people studying Japanese find it a bit tougher and have recommended some additional resources to go along with the RS program.
