is there any tool that can help to identify which v vol is not used for certain period / inactive in a pool?
By ununsed/inactive do you mean unmapped or no io activity ?
hi vinod, interested on lun mapped but no io activity
Not exactly understanding your question, but
If you use HiCMD and go to Mobility Tab, prepare the luns\server\system by adding them to logical group.
Once discovered the ldev and logical group created, go to analytic tab, bring up the all the luns you are monitoring and click on performance
The performace wizard is self explanatory as to which time period you are monitoring\which luns and what is the activity seen it also compares against system such as write pending , mpblade busy etc, i find it expremly easy and good tool to use for troubleshooting or performance monitoring, this will show you which luns are busy and which are not.
Also, Tuning manager can do the same with some report you will need to play with, you can compare two different reports in tuning manager against each other but it will require some knowledge of reporting and setup.
I am sure device manager CLI may have addtioinal cmd regarding LDEV IO/Busy etc.
Hope that helps , keep in mind to use this funtionality of HiCMD you may require atleast 7.0 Hicmd suite and Mobility licence & your scope of monitoring LDEV is limited to several luns and not the whole system.
