We know there are many more defining moments to come; for you and for Hitachi. Tell us about an important decision, or an event, that defined your career path.
Starting my 6th year at HDS this year. Until HDS, I hadn't stayed with one company for that long since working my way through college.
People tend to stay at HDS. I've been here 13 years! Thanks for your response, Jeff Lundberg. It's difficult to pick just one defining moment. My defining moment at HDS was both humbling and yet feels somehow self-indulgent to mention. I was presented the Hitachi Spirit award for Kaitakusha-seishin (Pioneering Spirit) by Jack Domme. I'd say that was a defining moment for sure!
My career has been defined by my international experiences. At the beginning of my career I was given the opportunity to present a model I developed to some colleagues in Japan. I had never traveled before overseas and was completely scared to the point of basically trying to cancel the trip. But I got up the courage to go and never looked back. The experience was amazing, the people were amazing and it motivated me to become more global. I eventually had the opportunity to work and live overseas in EMEA, learn a new language and culture and become an EU citizen. This experience has defined my ability to understand, collaborate and thrive in multicultural situations.
I would definitely agree that was a defining moment and a turning point in your life. Great story!
I would say the defining moment for me was the realization that I finally do what I actually like to do. Kind of important, I would assume, and something that doesn't happen to everyone. Incidentally (or not?), it coincided with my starting at HDS about 6.5 years ago .
I liked the question, to explain "What" was the defining moment in my career, I should begin from "When" the most defining moment started!
And that happened from the moment when I decided to join Hitachi as an Intern. My instincts told me that joining HDS would never be a wrong decision, even though I had other options in hand. And that leads to the answer of "What" the most defining moment was. After 3 months of working as an Intern in Hitachi, I got the feedback that HDS would like to take me into their team after my Internship time.
Defining moment for me in life .. wait a sec ...lets start it with starting when i passed my college , i thought this is my moment to make my life and then i got chance of working with Hitachi and more than that i found people in Hitachi are like family, In family we discuss, enjoy and create solution for members. For me every moment with Hitachi's Family members is a defining moment.
In my teens I stared out on a spectrum zx81 followed by a commodore c64 and so on.
In those days IT wasn't like it is today. IT wasn't as present as it is now so I started my career as a car mechanic but always
keeping up to date with new technologies. Through a lucky coincidence I started programming punching machines.
A few years later I went back to school and got my certification for system administration. This was my big carrer jump.
Since then I have always worked with Hitachi storage systems. Seen everything starting with lightning storage up to the brand new GXX series.
A great journey and looking forward to what is next.
