Hello is is possible to get list of all possible events within hitachi nas platform, with its currently deffined severity level? gui or cli
Using CLI just search for severe events
event-log-show | grep -i "severe"
do define a severity level :
event-log-filter add <event id> --set-level <info warning severe ...>
event-log-filter update <event id> --set-level <info warning severe ...>
to display the even configured :
even-log-filter list <event id>
To understand what that even id is :
event-log-definitions display <event name>
Hope it helps .......
Thank you for reply, i've tried your suggestions, please correct me if i am wrong.
We have a challenge to set monitoring on new hnas, currently we need to define which events to be severe which warning and which informational, this is done trough event-log-filter you mentioned, we need to modify some of those settings.
event-log-show | grep -i "severe" won't help me, because it only shows events already happened, which were defined as severe and as there wasn't much going on on the machine, i will get a very short list of possible events. If i even-log-filter list, i have just some event id defined there, only ignore ones, so other event ids has their severity defined elsewhere than in event-log-filter. We need to get this list, so we can go through it and change some of the event ids severity level. Is there any way to get list like that ? Just list of all possible event ids (same as event-log-definitions) with their current severity level.
You can use "event-log-definitions" to show all available events. However, the severity level isn't listed in the output.
1) "event-log-definitions groups" to show all event groups. Pick one.
2) "event-log-definitions list -g Cluster -c" to show all events for the Cluster group in CSV format.
Thanks, but it still doesn't produce the result i am looking for. What we need in the end is to set our monitoring, thus setting severity level for different events. There is obviously default severity level for every event and i am looking for a way to check it, differently than just wait until it appears in event-log. So what is the procedure of setting monitoring on hnas systems? Hope their default severity settings are set properly, wait and change settings in time,on the way?
What tool will you use to monitor the HNAS? Is it some kind of syslog application? Or do you want to receive alerts through emails?
You can configure the HNAS system to push alerts to a syslog server or through emails. The HNAS system can be configured to send only certain severity levels.
yes we will be using syslog app for monitoring and as you mentioned it will be set only to react to certain severity levels, or atleast react differently to different severity levels, thus it is important for us, to set events to our desired severity level. From what i know so far, we would need to go through event-log-definitions list one by one and put them all to event-log-filter with our desired severity. I was hoping to get the "default severity list" and modify just few.
Let me check internally to see if someone else can help with your request.
The event-log-definitions command used to include the Severity level but that has been removed. My colleague recommends that you should make this request to your local CE or GSS contact. They will be able to provide you with this information.
