we have 2 DC area with the distance almost 100m within the same building, we want to have switches connection between 2 area. If we opt for ISL, is this will impact performance? or should we use longdistance option?
ISL can use multimode or monomode fiber, and you can add a license for 'extended distance' ISL's. Max distance is based on fibre type and how many B2B credits can you configure per port. At 8Gb you'll need about 4 credits per km.
With default L0 mode, you can use an ISL up to 1km at 8Gb with monomode fibre and SFPs
Multimode fibre distance is shorter and depends on fibre quality (OMx)
To build a 100m ISL using multimode fibre, you can use the default L0 and OM3 fibre (aqua color) for 8Gb speed
The distance limit near 100m and quality for multimode is:
OM2 150m 4Gb
OM3 150m 8Gb
OM4 125m 16Gb
With monomode (OS1), 10km at 8Gb
Extended fabric license gives you some extra functionality, like dynamic b2b credit allocation and extra buffer credits per port, but 100m ISL should work with L0
