Technically GAD is implemented by creating identical "Virtual" machines in each of two geographically distant G1000 systems (a bit like VMware VMs on ESX) and then using the GAD functionality to present a single merged system to the server layer.
Multi-path software in the servers sees the identical attributes from the two "storage system" instances down the different paths and thinks that it is seeing a single Lun/volume for each actual GAD pair. Sync replication managed by GAD ensures both actual volumes remain consistent. If the distance is local then any multi-path software should be OK, but HDLM has added intelligence to prioritise local access.
This is achieved with a minimum of additional SAN paths and switches and without the need for any appliances. Nice and tidy.

Thank you for the info, but what i understood is that vplex is active/active architecture where VSP is active//passive architecture.
Wrong. GAD is active/active. (Global Active Device)
Could you please share or refer any tech guide which explain the active/active architecture?
