Can anyone please tell me what is Mirror Id in HUR( universal replicator) and what is the use of it?
I'm not the best person to explain this but I'l give it a shot.
The relationship between "a" master journal and a restore journal is called a mirror. Mirror ID's are from 0 - 3.
When you create a PAIR in HUR you are required to select a primary journal (Master), a secondary journal (Restore) and a Mirror id for the Pair.
Typically the recommendation is to use Mirror id 1 even for 2 DC HUR, so that if need be you can use the other mirrors available in the same journals for expanding this to 3 DC configurations..
True copy uses Mirror ID 0 by default in 3 DC configurations.
Now when you create additional HUR PAIR's between the same two systems, you will keep adding them to Mirror ID #1 of the journal. A journal is also analogous to a consistency group, so when you split pairs assigned to one mirror, all PAIR's will have to be split at once. So how can you have multiple consistency groups? The answer is to have multiple journal's for multiple consistency groups. Remember each journal can have have mirror ids 0-3.
When are the mirrors really used, from what I know these are important when you have 3 data center configurations. For example look at this topology diagram of a 3DC multitarget HUR config with delta resync.
We use the journal group #0 on all the systems so that we have some sort of standard. This is how I like to do it. I have shown only mirror id's 0,1,2 for the sake of simplicity.
When you create a config like above,
