I have two queries on HNAS.
Can i access a CIFS share from unix system?
Is there any other way to access multi protocol shares?
--> if you have smb client on your unix system, yes, you can open the cifs share.
--> you can share a folder either by CIFS, NFS or FTP! the 3 protocols can be enable.
BUT: you need to take care of the mapping if permissions is important.
----> The unix user (UID) has to be mapped to a Windows user (SID).
----> The unix group (GID) has to be mapped to a Windows group too.
Hi Julien Rochefeuille
Thank You so much for you reply.
Did you mean that here we have mention the user mappings option like below screenshot?
I have one more query here. After I added the both IDs, how can i give access to a share for both users?
Is there any steps involved?
how can i give access to a share for both users?
-> create a cifs share and an export nfs at the same level.
verify the permissions from both "world" to see if there is no issue.
for the mapping:
you need to register also the nfs name and the unix ID to match with the Windows ID/name..
