We do not have any scope for deploying HCS/Tuning Manager/Raid Agent where HUS-VM is located.
Can HUS-VM be monitored remotely and how can we capture performance data from the storage the way we do with Tuning Manager?
Thanks for help.
Without tuning manager, managing HUSVM is just not possible. SN offers some data but nothing like TnM. So get TnM and save time, rather than roundabouts.
The RAID agent doesn't have to be installed on the same server as HTnM. You could install it on a server that is located in the same datacenter as your HUS VM and point it back to HTnM (using jpcnshostname command).
Hi Ramesh Polepalli,
Did Dang's response answer your question? If so, please kindly click the "Correct Answer" link.
I have added HUSVM into HTnM and same is reflecting at GUI end but data is not getting fetched for same. Can someone assist in this scenario ?
When you say you added HUS VM into HTnM, can you please describe the steps taken?
To register an array in HTnM, these steps need to be completed:
1) Install HTnM Agent for RAID
2) If array is enterprise, which HUS VM is, provision Command Device to server
2) Create instance of RAID agent for HUS VM
Yes I did provision command device from HUSVM to existing VM where HTnM agent is installed and created instance of raid agent for HUSVM. It already has VSP and HUS150 storage which are reflecting fine. But this HUSVM is not collecting data. We don't have direct connectivity between Tuning manager host and HUSVM so did virtualise CMD from HUSVM via VSP.
Can you suggest now?
Using the SVP option has some limitations. One of them is that performance information is not available in HTnM Main Console. Basically you can only query performance via HTnM Performance Reporter with it.
So there is no other option for performance information reflection at GUI console other than direct allocation of CMD to related HTnM server ?
Sorry, there is not. For enterprise type arrays, such as the HUS VM, HTnM Main Console requires a physical CMD.
