Swap Connection Online

Hi Experts,

Let's say we have:

  • Old Brocade switch A (domain ID 1): Connect to host-hba-1 and storage-ctrl-1a.
  • Old Brocade switch B (domain ID 2): Connect to host-hba-2 and storage-ctrl-2a.
  • New Brocade switch C (domain ID 3) and D (domain ID 4): C joined fabric A, D joined fabric B.
  • OS: Any.
  • Target is to remove the old A&B with the new C&D switches.

Is there any risk if I unplug host-hba-1 and storage-ctrl-1a from A and plug into C; then do the same for host-hba-2 and storage-ctrl-2a (unplug from B and plug into D)?

Will my hosts still able to recognize disks that are belong to them?

What I worry is the device WWID will change with the changing in switch domain ID, and thus resulting hosts recognize bunch of "new" disks instead of knowing them are actually same disks as before the swap.

Any comment? Thank you.

Regards,

Swee Chin
