VMware and Hitachi

To stay ahead of the competition, companies spanning across all industries need to have an agile and secure infrastructure to digitally transform their competitive edge.  A key underlying enabler is a modernized data center, allowing agile and secure provisioning of any workload, whether a legacy enterprise business application or a cloud-native application, while maintaining full compliance and security.

Hitachi has proven itself to be a key and trusted advisor to architect, secure, implement and support their customers’ solutions and needs.  Hitachi has integrated VMware Cloud Foundation into the Hitachi Unified Compute Platform RS (UCP RS) for modernizing data centers and building hybrid clouds.  This offering has simplified the customer experience, with a cost-advantage and labor-efficient way to purchase, implement, operate, support and maintain a robust software-defined hybrid cloud infrastructure.

The same core software-defined stack that is leveraged in the Hitachi UCP RS deployment, powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, is also the underpinning technology of VMware-based public clouds like VMware Cloud on Amazon Web Services and other VMware Cloud providers, as well as consumption-based deployments at the edge.  This consistent infrastructure and consistent operations across cloud environments provides faster time-to-market while removing user implementation errors.

Together, the Hitachi UCP RS and Hitachi UCP HC native integrations within the entire VMware software stack provide solutions that can make it easier and faster for enterprises to accelerate time to business value. Our partnership has fueled on-demand propositions that can enhance the security and efficiency of legacy applications, cloud-native applications, and smart devices.

Two Case Studies

A large Power Company based in North America needed to modernize their data center and their seven remote sites, in order to deploy a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor and control plant equipment.  This customer needed to address a pain point of a non-uniform interface filled with manual processes across core to edge.  The final solution reduced provisioning time with simplified and consistent operations and improved security with micro-segmentation.   Hitachi was chosen as the trusted advisor to deploy a UCP-RS architecture, powered by VMware Cloud Foundation, to automate and orchestrate any application in a ready-to-use platform.

A judicial court system based in EMEA needed to reduce the amount of time to deploy projects and enhance their regulatory compliance with cybersecurity and micro-segmentation.   Working with Hitachi and VMware, this customer realized significant efficiency gains and a scalable infrastructure, all while allowing them to leverage their already existing internal skill sets.  With micro-segmentation and agility of VMware NSX, they were able to reduce their provisioning time while increasing their security posture across all sites.

To find out more how customers can accelerate their digital transformation journey, join us at Hitachi NEXT 2019 from October 8-10 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Our breakout session will feature Sunny Sahajpal, EMEA Global Partners Senior Manager at VMware, and Greg Curd, Americas Global Partners Manager at VMware.  Greg and Sunny will discuss how Hitachi and VMware implemented hybrid cloud solutions in the public sector and financial industries, with a focus on the benefits attained from these strategic engagements.

Join our VMware session on Wednesday, October 9 at 3:15 PM. We look forward to seeing you there!
