Did you update the jobs' version when updating Pentaho Server version?

    Hi All,

My question is can we directly install 9.2 community version?
since pentaho portal says we need to upgrade from 8.3 and cant upgrade directly from 8.0 to 9.2 version.

cpython script executor was not working when we upgraded to 8.1.
so we are still on 8.0 community version.

will the jobs of 8.0 work in 9.2 without any issues?

    Thanks,
    Divya.

Generally speaking you should have little problem updating but there may be some minor issues if you use retired/obsolete or custom steps in jobs or transformations. The easiest approach is to just do it on a test machine with an isolated data set  and TEST then when you are satisfied install for your production requirements.

In the concernent to upgrade server software & design-tools:
I'm not sure if for the community edition there is a trustable software that upgrade directly to next version. Our admins install every new version almost from scratch.
    In the concernent of jobs/:
There are minor changes (or none) when you are migrating to an upper version with a short distance between them.
However as you were told before, you can't migrate without first testing jobs/transformations in a separate enviromment until you are sure that you are not using deprecated steps/internal variables and if you are using custom steps, ensure yourself that they run as you expected

@Carl Messner do you know if the difference between older versions (<8) are documented somewhere? I've only been able to find these:

What I currently do is check directly into the source code (i.e. 9.3, 8.0, etc.), downloading two versions and using a tool such as kdiff, but as you could imagine it is very time consuming.
