Not all machines are protected by extended detection and response (XDR) or endpoint protection. Data generated by remote and mobile and edge devices like documents, video,Images etc., constitutes of unstructured & semi-structured data that can be difficult to manage by traditional backups.

HCP Anywhere Enterprise with HCP and HCP Cloud Scale as a secure backend object storage provides immutable data protection -preventing deletion by internal users / malicious actors, and help customers adhere to compliance requirements (e.g., Legal hold, Compliance mode, worm lock).

Scenario 1: A law firm has a large repository of records they need to protect from unauthorized access and modification. HCPAnywhere Enterprise) to place the records in Compliance mode. This means that even administrators cannot delete the records until the retention period has expired.

Scenario 2: A financial services company has a large repository of customer financial data that they need to protect from ransomware attacks. They use HCP AWEnt's Ransom Protect to scan all files for ransomware and block any infected files from spreading.

Scenario 3: A manufacturing company has a large repository of engineering drawings that they need to be able to recover quickly in the event of a disaster. They use HCP AWEnt's rapid recovery feature to store the engineering drawings in the Hitachi Object storage and replicate them to multiple edge filers. This ensures that the drawings can be recovered quickly, even if there is a problem with one of the edge filers

Traditional antivirus relies on signature-based detection, which means that it looks for known malicious files. This can be effective against known ransomware attacks, but it is not effective against zero-day attacks, which are new or unknown ransomware variants.

HCP AWEnt Ransom Protect uses a combination of AI and machine learning to detect ransomware attacks, Ransom Protect monitors file activity for suspicious behavior, such as rapid changes to file permissions, encryption of files, and creation of new files with unusual anomalies. If Ransom Protect detects suspicious activity, it can block the attack or quarantine the affected files.

HCP AWEnt Ransom Protect also includes a number of features that are not available in traditional antivirus solutions. For example, Ransom Protect can be used to restore files that have been encrypted by ransomware. Ransom Protect can also be used to create a tamper-proof audit trail of all file activity, which can be used to investigate ransomware attacks and identify the source of the attack.

HCP AWEnt's inclusion of Varonis offering further enhances Ransom Protects capabilities. Varonis is a leader in data security and compliance solutions. Varonis's DatPrivilege solution provides visibility into how users access and use data. This visibility can be used to identify users who are at risk of being targeted by ransomware attacks.By combining Varonis DatPrivilege with Ransom Protect, HCP AWEnt can provide organizations with a comprehensive solution for protecting against ransomware attacks.
