Hitachi Unified Compute Platform CI for
Oracle XaaS Cloud Platform. The other is
Hitachi Unified Compute Platform CI for
Oracle Composable Platform.
Oracle XaaS Cloud Platform is fast, agile, and aims to be a more efficient use of resources. Cloud deployment aims for IT transformation. You want a fast and flexible journey to reduce cost, quickly scale up or down, and—most importantly—be easy and intuitive. This solution integrates many innovative technologies from Hitachi Vantara and Oracle. To create an Oracle database cloud service, this environment uses Hitachi Unified Compute Platform CI with Oracle Virtual Machine and Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) Cloud Control 13c. It provides a base of the following to migrate to Oracle database cloud service:
Quick database deployment in the cloud
Validation of virtual machine configurations
Central monitoring of Hitachi storage and servers, virtual machines, database, and applications
Oracle Composable platform is engineered, pre-configured, pre-tested, and qualified to provide predictable performance and the highest reliability in demanding, dynamic Oracle environments. This solution is validated to ensure consistent, predictable results. It offers integrated computing options, simplified management and improved utilization that cut total cost of ownership.
Hitachi Unified Compute Platform CI for Oracle XaaS Cloud Platform and Composable Platform has been tested with Intel Cascade Lake Processors. The environment had these components:
One Hitachi Advanced Server DS220 using Cascade Lake processors from Intel
Two Brocade G620 switches
One Cisco Nexus 3048TP switch
One Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform G900 (VSP)
This is the list of key lab verification tests performed for Oracle Composable Platform:
Server BIOS and BMC code upgrade from previous GA code level for Hitachi Advanced Server DS220 with Cascade
Lake processors from Intel in the CPUs
SAN boot configuration and operating system installation with the operating system auto installer developed by Converged Solutions Engineering
Linux native multipathing (Device Mapper) and udev configuration for Oracle ASM
Oracle 12cR2 Grid Infrastructure and Database binaries installation and configuration
Database creation with DBCA utility
Database load tests with Oracle SQL commands to verify multipathing of I/O stack

This is the list of key lab verification tests performed for Oracle XaaS Cloud Platform:
Server BIOS and BMC code upgrade from previous GA code level for Hitachi Advanced Server DS220 with Cascade Lake CPUs from Intel.
Verified all I/O cards (NIC and HBA) are detected by Hitachi Advanced Server DS220.
Verified Advanced Server DS220 server can see storage LUN and SAN boot configuration successfully.
Successful Oracle VM server management through Oracle VM Manager.
Verified network connectivity and ping tests in Oracle VM server as well as inside virtual machines.
Verified successful bonding configuration for network interface cards.
Deployed test virtual machines.
Verified successful virtual machine deployment using latest Oracle Database 18c OVM templates.
Verified database server up and running inside virtual machine.
