Part-1 The Data that Powers Good

90% of data in the world has been created in the last 2 years, and with data at the core of business and solutions, we know the power of data and what it holds for our future. The solutions we can solve today using data previously too difficult to mine is astonishing. It wasn’t long ago that an idea would take a lifetime of dedication to develop the mathematical equations and science foundations to have partial models to prove their theory. Today we share that data in the palm of our hands, and there is so much data in this world that it’s hard for any one entity to know and understand it all. That is, of course, unless you are AI.

Hitachi used our annual conference, Hitachi Next to introduce to the world what an organization such as ours can do to power good with data.  Combining data from Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) is what we do. Hitachi is involved in eight different industries, and we use our information technology solutions in all of them. Many times, the technologies we position to our customers are already in use, benefiting our society.   Having a partner with capabilities in both Industry and IT will facilitate the real enhancement of data faster with the right technology.

Imagine, using analytics as part of a ‘maintenance as a service’ offering, to efficiently maintain your equipment and establish with your customers, a dependable brand that proactively addresses maintenance issues. With a partner like Hitachi that offers ‘Trains as a Service’, the United Kingdom and Virgin were able to leverage High-Speed Hitachi Trains. This offering enables social innovation for economies, environments, and society.  Using Pentaho and Hitachi Content platform, we not only offer solutions that work for your business, but we first enable them across solutions within Hitachi.

Today, IT teams are challenged to turn data into business outcomes that benefit the company’s future.  Working with Hitachi and Cisco, you can begin with data and not the architecture or software programs needed to gain value from that data.  We eliminate the worry that you may have chosen the incorrect platform or software because you will see the value in the data enrichment we offer.

Hitachi and Cisco have already teamed up to create the Cisco and Hitachi Adaptive Solutions for Converged Infrastructure. This solution is open and designed to have no silo or threats to data or its movement. What’s more, it can seamlessly grow and perform on today’s technological advancements. We have incorporated two industry-leading vendors who have years of experience in market-leading compute, network, and storage technologies. We have no hidden vendor lock-in agenda, just products, and expertise of two companies who want to engage in your data challenges that translate into better business outcomes.

The name, Adaptive Solutions is a tip of the hat in what is to come for the converged infrastructure solutions we have planned. But our purpose is to hold to the main Converged Infrastructure principle, which is to consolidate many different application workloads into one engineered and tested platform. The Cisco Validated Design (CVD) is excellent for customers for this main reason, but it also allows you to utilize the product or knowledge you already have in house and focus your energy on the business problems you need to solve to stay competitive. But, not all the storage vendors in the Cisco Validated Design are created equal. Hitachi is superior in that we are a data-driven company, with experience beyond storage solutions. We have OT and IT capabilities, and we play in some of the world's most complex industries and problems.

I invite you to check out the following Hitachi Next announcements and activities, in part two of my blog, we will review just how much the Hitachi VSP 5000 storage platform advances performance and capabilities of Converged Infrastructures.
