    I try to import existing GAD Pairs into OpsCenter Administrator.

    I followed the instructions :

    Importing HA replication pairs from Ops Center Protector

    Before you begin
    Before importing the HA replication pairs, make sure of the following:

    Both primary and secondary storage systems of the high availability (HA) pairs are onboarded on Ops Center Administrator.
    The data flow for HA pairs is created with the following conditions in Ops Center Protector:
    The node for the primary storage is Hitachi Block Host.
    The logical devices for the primary volumes are defined in the Included Logical Devices of the Hitachi Block Host.

    The logical device must be defined with the LDEV_ID. Ops Center Administrator cannot use logical devices defined with Host Group ID.
    Specify Use Block Host selections in the Specify Hitachi Block Storage classification attributes of the policy.
    Configure the following in Secondary Volume Host Groups in the Dataflow:

    - Specify Automatically Provisioned Host Group.

    - Do not specify any host groups in Optionally specify on or more host groups on the destination storage system.
    Replication is marked as Active Full Copy in Ops Center Protector.
    The HA pair must use a Quorum disk.

    Procedure

    From the Settings menu, click Import HA Replication.

    Select the primary storage systems of the HA pair on which you want to import HA replication.

    Click Submit.

    ----- ---- ----

    I did as shown above.
    But no GAD Pairs was found.

    May be the instruction is missing some point I need to know ?

    Hello Sven

    Did you adopt the replication in Protector? When you go to Monitor in protector, do you see the replication being managed there?

    What does the volume attributes look like in Administrator, does it have the HA attribute?

    Also which version of Hitachi Ops Center are you using?

    Best Regards
    William

    SINCE 2 DAYS I'm not able to REPLY .
    No way to save.
    All the content LOST after press the Post button.

    Now I attached a PDF, containing the same content.
    May be 10 lines to much ?

    =====

    Now I see the Post was saved. So the reason why my Post was not saved was just too much lines.
    It would be really a big help to get a feedback that the content was too long or anything in this direction.
    But nothing is too less.

    Hi William,

    what I did in Protector:

    1) Create Hitachi Block Host
    - Configuration: Selected the VSP hosting the P-Vol
    - Logical Device Identifier :  0x494

    2) Create Policy
    - use as Classification : use Hitachi Block Host Node
    - Select Operation: Replicate

    3) Create Data Flow
    - First the "Hitachi Block Host" as Source
    - Second move the Target Storage System over the Block Host , as Target
    - for the Hitachi Block Host : Select the Policy created above
    - for the Mover Settings: transfer type: Continous
    - for the Target Storage : Select the Policy/Operation created above
       -> Configure new replication
       * Active-Active Remote Clone (Global-Active Device)
       * Configure Replication Setting: Select Pool,  Select Target Quorum, Select Mirror Unit, Copy Pace
       * Use Consistency
       -> Select Remote Path Group
        * Automatically Selected
      -> Configure Resource Group
       * Automatically Selected
      -> Secondary Volume Host Groups
       * Use Automatically Provisioned Host Group
        ( I did not specified a Host Group Name)
      -> Specify Naming Options
       * Match Origin

    4) Activate the Data Flow

    The I checked under Monitor
    - I see "Initializing replication" -> Failed
    Cannot reserve virtual logical device IDs, volume 0x00494 has existing mapping in resource group with virtual serial 490001
    Handler 'HitachiVirtualStoragePlatform' call failed: could not reserve virtual IDs for new secondary volumes
    'Destination' Sequence 'Replication' failed: InitializeReplicationRequest failed for reason: could not reserve virtual IDs for new secondary volumes. *** Attachment count: 3 ***

    Yes - of course - the S-Vol is already there !
    I do not want to create a NEW pair - I want just to rebuild the Protector configuration for an existing PAIR
    to be recognized by Administrator.

    Yes - the P-Vol has the HA attribute in Administrator.

    I have OpsCenter version 10.8.2.
    Protector (7.3.6.92)

    Regards
    Sven

    Hello Sven,

    It looks like you are trying to adopt GAD pairs in Protector, but during dataflow you are selecting "Configure new replication"option. Can you please try with below option now and check if this works this time?

    Also please have a look at the below table.

    Hi Tanmoy,

    yes - now it works.
    The missing link was the "Adopt an existing replication".
    Thank you ! ;-)
