Hi William. I finally got Podman installed by our Support Team, after they made some changes in the yum.repos.d.
# podman version
Client: Podman Engine
Version: 4.4.1
API Version: 4.4.1
After that Upgrade was partially successful.
On Probe Server:
The status is below. Weird that without any errors in the installation logs, it still shows - Repair. Although it did changed from 10.9.X to 11.X. I don't see 10.9 anywhere.
# ./install.sh
Choose the Hitachi Ops Center products you want to install:
Product name Existing Installer Type
1 All (2,3)
2 API Configuration Manager 11.0.2-01 11.0.2-01 Repair
3 Protector client 7.7.3 New
** Analyzer probe server 11.0.2 11.0.2 Not Support (Repair)
On Main Analyzer/CMREST/Common/Admin etc Server:
The status is below. Once again some of the versions changed from 10.9.X to 11.X, but why 'Repair'. Servers have been rebooted. All services have been manually stopped/started as well.
2 Common Services 11.0.2-01 11.0.2-01 Repair
3 Protector 7.7.3 7.7.3 Repair
4 Automator 11.0.2 11.0.2 Upgrade
5 Analyzer 11.0.2 11.0.2 Upgrade
6 Analyzer viewpoint 11.0.2 New
** Administrator 11.0.2 11.0.2 Not Support (Repair)
** API Configuration Manager 11.0.2-02 11.0.2-01 Not Support (Downgrade) <= How to downgrade. Joke.
** Analyzer detail view 11.0.2 11.0.2 Not Support (Repair)
Btw, in Analyzer GUI, Detailed View GUI, and every other places everything seems okay. Unless I am overlooking something. Don't know yet..And my Virtualization Team tells me that snapshots have expired (they expire after 48hrs), so only way now is 'One Way Street'. My way or highway :-). No going back.
Any pointers or any other tips will be highly appreciated. Thanks

Hi William.
Also, please tell me where you saw the Podman release note. I checked in Podman official site, and it has these packages.
Are the one with linux names and the Build(there is build also there not seen in screenshot) are sufficient for Podman 4.4.X install.
Or, can Podman be installed on a Host and then Export it to another Host(only Podman Containers Part).
Any pointers on this. Thanks

Hi Bill. Thanks for the advice.
Also, these two servers are not connected (or are behind firewall?) to Satellite Repositories. So, I can't install Podman. I ran the install command on a other Linux server and that is happy to install it:
# sudo yum install podman
Updating Subscription Management repositories.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 for x86_64 - Supplementary (RPMs) 108 kB/s | 3.8 kB 00:00
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 for x86_64 - AppStream (RPMs) 132 kB/s | 4.5 kB 00:00

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 for x86_64 - BaseOS (RPMs) 118 kB/s | 4.1 kB 00:00
Dependencies resolved.

Is this ok [y/N]: N
But, same command fails in this server (moreover this one is Oracle Linux):
# sudo yum install podman
Oracle Linux 8 BaseOS Latest (x86_64) 0.0 B/s | 0 B 00:00
Errors during downloading metadata for repository 'ol8_baseos_latest':

Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'ol8_baseos_latest': Cannot download repomd.xml: Cannot download repodata/repomd.xml: All mirrors were tried
So, I am thinking to somehow get 'Podman' 4.4.1 from web and install it first manually. But will it update the existing one 4.0.2. And, if it is able to update the existing version to 4.4.1, will the Express Installer will pick it from the get go. As remember it complains currently about it.
Plus. there is another hitch. It says: Do you want to use another OS media as yum repository to obtain prerequisite packages? (y/n) [current=y]: y
So, I have to first download Podman package and its dependencies (Not that easy, but I do have the list from that server where Podman is ready to install, but have not installed). Then with genisoimage(or similar) make it to an ISO. And then use that ISO. I hope same server can mount two ISOs at same time, as the EXPINST.iso is already mounted for this install.
And, other idea to make it work. Please advise.
I wish when Development have made this so easy to upgrade(./install.sh), why they have not added the Podman 4.4.1 within this already. That would be awesome.
Thanks

Hello Sudhir
Yes ViewPoint is a separate product. You can install it but I think you'll need a license to use it.
Might be best to just upgrade and not install ViewPoint on top of it. So select 2,3,4,5,6,7,8 exclude 9
I checked my fresh install and I only have podman 4.4.1.
I checked the podman release notes and don't really see command line changes. So I imagine it would work. But since this a production environment it might be better to check with support first.

Hi All, I anyway downloaded the installer package and tried to give it a shot after taking a snapshot of the VM.
It gives me like this:
Choose the Hitachi Ops Center products you want to install:
Product name Existing Installer Type
1 All (2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)
2 Common Services 10.9.1 11.0.2-01 Upgrade
3 Administrator 10.9.1 11.0.2 Upgrade
4 API Configuration Manager 10.9.1 11.0.2-01 Upgrade
5 Protector 7.5.2 7.7.3 Upgrade
6 Automator 10.9.1 11.0.2 Upgrade
7 Analyzer 10.9.1 11.0.2 Upgrade
8 Analyzer detail view 10.9.1 11.0.2 Upgrade
9 Analyzer viewpoint 11.0.2 New
(Use commas to separate multiple entries)
Enter a number or q to quit [default=1]: 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
Confirm your settings: (continue=y, edit=e, cancel=n)
>y
Podman 4.0.2 is installed. Do you want to upgrade Podman to 4.4.x during the installation?
Enter y to continue, n to cancel.
> y
The current yum repository does not contain Podman 4.4.x, the prerequisite library for Administrator.
Do you want to use another OS media as yum repository to obtain prerequisite packages? (y/n) [current=y]:
Now. it fails when I say: y. And, if I choose n , it anyway fails as we don't have latest podman 4.4.X. And I am not able to find podman 4.4.X anywhere from web.
Please let me know how to get podman 4.4.X on this box first.
Current version is:
# podman version
Client: Podman Engine
Version: 4.0.2
API Version: 4.0.2
Go Version: go1.17.7
Built: Wed May 11 09:22:26 2022
OS/Arch: linux/amd64
Also, prechecks are okay for Analytics:
# ./analytics_precheck.sh

Hello All. We've Ops Center Administrator/CMREST/Analyzer/Common Things in One Server. And, Analyzer Probe/Analyzer Detailed View on another Server.
Both looks like this:
cat redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux release 8.6 (Ootpa)
cat system-release
Oracle Linux Server release 8.6
cat os-release
="Oracle Linux Server 8.6"
Now, we want to Upgrade entire Suite from 10.9.x to latest 11.02.X.
But not sure what package to use. Will it be 'Installer'(or Express Installer) or OVA. How to determine that.
When I run df -Th on Probe/Detail View Server, I see: Linux FS mounted and VG/LVM stuff.
When I run df -Th on Ops Admin/Analyzer Server, I see: All of above similar O/P, plus lots of /var/lib/container stuff also. So, is this one a OVA install. How can we upgrade this one then. Also, when we run docker images, we don't see anything. So, how is this one: Docker/Container ? or what.
Basically, we want to Upgrade both servers to 11.X. Installation and Configuration Guides have so much stuff and is quite confusing.
Please advise, or help with some pointers and guidance. Thanks.
