Hi,

I have created a HDI Gateway with Read-Only Content Sharing file-systems. File systems have been created successfully and shares mapped. I can now use a read-only view of the HCP namespace. Read-Write HCP name-space is on another HDI Gateway.

First scan of the folder/file structure is very slow I presume due to the HDI having to rebuild the 4K stubs as you navigate the namespace.

I did some investigation and saw that I can run arcrestore --file-system {file-system name} to rebuild the stubs.

I ran the command and other than a confirmation prompt it returned immediately.

My questions are -

  • Is this the correct usage of arcrestore?
  • How do I track it's progress and whether it actually ran or not?
  • Will it also restore/recall files that are cached on the read/write gateway (which I do not want as this read-only cache is smaller)?
  • Will it also recall files to honour the cache pinning policy of the read/write gateway (which I do not want either).

Thanks for your insights

Malcolm

Found the answer to my question talking to local HDS experts. The arcrestore command will not restore stubs for a content sharing read only file-system. It may do for a read-write content sharing file-system but that does not fit my use case in this instance.
