Hello,
Please help me with the following question. How do you calculate the usable capacity of the DDP with 15 drives of 7.6TB?
Taking into account that the DDP Pool will be created in Raid 6+2+1 and 6 extra disks will be added making a total of 15 drives.
or if there is any tool for this calculation.
Regards,
HelloI'll give you a rough guideline. But ideally don't calculate it yourself rather use our quoting tools to calculate it for you. We update these regularly and you'll probably get the best results with all the nuances calculated for you. How I personally calculate it is around:MAX Disk per Raid Group today is 32 I believe. So 15 disks would fit into a single raid group. With the Sept 2024 GA SVOS release you can add dynamically to an existing Raid group. So even if you had an existing pool of 9 disks(minimum allowed) you can add up to 15 easily. From a calculation POV. You'll lose 2 disks to parity. You'll lose 1 disk to spare capacity(default). You'll lose roughly 5% per disk to meta data. So if I had 3TB disk, lets say 2.8TiB usable. In a 15 disk raid group. You'll typically end up with something like: (15-2-1)*(2.8)-(15*2.8*0.05)=33,6-2.1 = 31.5TB Pool usable without any Deduplication or Compression.
Hello William,
I applied the calculation you shared, but it doesn't match the CPQ result.
(15-2-1)*(7.22)-(15*7.22*0.05)= 86.64TB - 5.41TB = 81.23TB
Would the result shown by CPQ be the correct one to use on base 2/10?
