  • 1.  Quorum Device via iSCSI Target Experiences

    Posted 09-19-2022 15:08
    Hi,

I'm planing to connect the GAD Quorum device as iSCSI device, hosted by a Linux System and a iSCSI target device.
I know its working - but did you implement it already - and what is your experiences ?
Are there any pitfalls where have to be careful ?
Which iSCSI target device software you are using ?

    regards
    Sven

    Hello Sven,

There is an Amazon Machine Image that can automate most of the setup required to configure an iSCSI target device. The iSCSI target device software being used is TargetCLI. The main pitfalls you should be careful about is ensuring your firewalls are properly configured so that the VM and on premise array are able to communicate.

Please let me know if you have any issues or further questions. I would be more than happy to help.

    Kind Regards,

    Hello,

There is an Amazon Machine Image that can simplify the entire process of setting up an iSCSI target. It is pretty simple as you just need to input into user data a few lines including the IQNs. The only pitfalls I can think of involve ensuring your firewalls are properly configured to allow communication between the VM and storage array. The iSCSI target device software used in the AMI is called LinuxIO TargetCLI.
Please let me know your experience and any further questions.

    Kind Regards,
    Jonathan De La Torre

    Hi Jonathan,

    thanks for your answer.
As I understand from the customer, a cloud based volume ist not an option.
He want to have really an on premise iSCSI volume.
My question: Can I also use LinuxIO TargetCLI on on the preferred customer OS ?

    regards
    Sven
