In HNAS's File Replication configuration, if the Target File System is replicated and replaced through HUR, is incremental replication possible when File Replication is performed again?

In an environment where File Replication is configured, I want to change the storage volume to which the Target FileSystem belongs from RAID5 to RAID6.
After completing replication from RAID5 to RAID6 through HUR, re-recognizing the target file system and re-performing File Replication, can incremental replication rather than full replication be performed? Since the original File System capacity is 400TB or more, incremental replication must be performed. Full capacity replication is not permitted.

Please forgive me ChangHyun, but the NAS engineering team has little current knowledge/usage of HUR. At one point in the distant past, HUR was used (on occasion), but by and large at this juncture HUR (to HNAS) is a tool of the distant past.

On occasions there have been use cases that would involve a scenario such as "replicating locally" (same rack/same DC) then moving the target (extremely quickly) to the newly desired location (avoiding any storage SW based replication), thus allowing the incrementals to continue.

It is also conceivable (again non-HUR) to have replication scenario such as A->B and A->C which sounds like a scenario that could fit the scenario.

    Albert, thanks for the reply.

Because a quick conclusion was needed at the request of the customer, we conducted tests internally using a similar configuration.

In conclusion, it was confirmed that incremental replication is performed for both File Replicaton and Object Replication.

    Hello,

After re-recognizing the target file system, configure the replication settings to enable incremental replication. Incremental replication typically involves transferring only the changes made since the last replication, rather than copying the entire dataset again.
Ensure that the replication software or system is set to detect changes and perform incremental updates. This might involve setting up the replication job or policy to focus on incremental changes. To verify that incremental replication works correctly, you can perform a test. Make a small change to the source file system and check if the change is correctly replicated to the target file system. Monitor the replication process to ensure it is functioning as expected. Continuously monitor the replication process to ensure that incremental updates are being applied correctly. Validate that the file system on RAID6 remains in sync with the source file system.

Before starting the replication process, ensure you have adequate backups of both the source and target file systems. This will help in case anything goes wrong during the replication process. Verify the capabilities and configuration options of your file replication software or system. Some systems may have specific steps or requirements for transitioning from full to incremental replication. Changing the storage volume type and performing replication operations can be resource-intensive. Ensure that your system has adequate resources and is scheduled to minimize impact on production workloads.

    Hope that helps!

    Hello,

Due to the urgency of the customer's request, we conducted internal tests with a similar configuration. We confirmed that both File Replication and Object Replication successfully perform incremental replication.
