Hello Diego
From what you're explainging you're looking for RoW(Redirect on writr) not (Copy-out on Write). Yes both is supported.
Few requirements for E590 and RoW:
- You need a pool that supports it, HDT(Hitachi Dynamic Tiering Pools, where you have 2 different types of disks like on our E590H modes in a single pool, is not supported)
- To toggle between RoW and CoW you need to set the DRS Attribute(Data Reduction Shared) setting on the volume.
Couple of recommendations from me:
- Make sure your using the latest GA SVOS. Since this allows same pool migration. To set this setting dynamically on the volume without the need of a second pool in order to facilitate the change.
- Use the latest version of Ops Center (think this is 10.3). The latest version has the new feature to use the same pool migration feature in Ops Center Adminstrator. Else you can use commandline to change the attribute.
- Use RoW. Its so much more performant, it allows more granular lock down options with safeSnap. It is also much more space efficient! This is also the new default volume type attribute in SVOS and our management tools if you're using an up to date version.
I hope that helps. Im at the airport atm, else I would post a screenshot to help guide you. Let me know if youd like it then Id happily add it once Im back in office.
