    Hello,
I'm just working Ops Center Automator and it's Service Builder.
My customer wish is: Automate DP-VOL expansion capacity while keeping pair status on VSPs 5500.

I was trying DP-VOL expansion manually against Global-Active Device User Guide, Chapter Expansion of DP-VOL capacity while keeping pair status.
    It works good.

I found in Service Builder Templates only 2 templates: Expand Volume and Expand Volume Capacity.
It's expansion only for LDEV without GAD.

Now, I'm preparing my own templates:
    1. Volume Expansion for multiple LDEVs of the same Capacity.
    2. Volume Expansion for multiple GAD DP-VOLs Capacity while keeping pair status.

Please, let me know, if some new templates for Volume Expansion exists or if somebody is working on the same task.

    Thank you,
    Milan

    Hello

We created one of these for a demo purpose, it leverages Ops Center Protector to split the pair but does the volume resizing via CMRest if I'm not mistaken.

    Best Regards

    Hello William,
    thank you for your response.
Plug-in mentioned in your response is not a part of Ops Center Automator Plug-ins.
Please, let me know, if it is possible to share this plug-in with me or others in Community.

    Thank you,
    Milan

    Hello Milan,

As per my knowledge you can perform GAD volume expansion using Protector. Please refer the attached document (step by step guide). I am not quite sure whether Ops Center Automator have such kind of service template.

    Thanks,
    Tanmoy

in 1500 can use protector GUI to set block device advance settings for new and existing or we have to do in cci also or we just need to verify in cci

    Hello

Make sure the user you're using for your ISM has the 'System Option' privileges'.

Maybe try setting the correct mode yourself, I believe it's mode 1198, according to this article:

    Hello Dhruv,

Can you please share below information? This feature only supports from Protector version 7.3.1

    •  Protector version you are using?
    • microcode version of the F1500 arrays (Primary & Secondary)
As per understanding, SOM should be different for F1500.

    Thanks,
    Tanmoy

    Hello Dhruv,

Please refer the information which I received from Protector.

    • Volume expansion jobs will work on this array but due to CCI limitations setting the SOMs will not.
    • Outside of Protector user needs to set the SOMs Protector GUI can't do this through CCI as it's not supported on R800 arrays
So it will be suggested, please enable/disable SOM on VSP F1500 using CCI. Then refresh the arrays in Protector. once you are done you can give a try of volume expansion from Protector Block Host.

Please let me know if you have any other queries.

    Thanks,
    Tanmoy

    Hello Dhruv,

    • it looks like RAID800 does not support the raidcom (CCI) command to change SOM.

Use SVP of RAID800 to change SOM.

    Refer to the following document:

    Maintenance Manual

    SVP SECTION

    2.28 Setting System Option Mode

On the other hand,  except Ops center Automator no other product supports scheduling Job like HCS.

    Thanks,
    Tanmoy
