Colin, The system will ignore the subscription setting when made via HCS since the system does not support subscription limit. It would be better if HCS removed the option for this platform but HCS is nearing end of life. Robert, Can you provide me the name of the customer who wants to use the featu ...

There is not quite enough resolution to see the detail but for ballpark numbers...The frequency distribution plot (mostly looking at the blue line) shows that you have < 1/2TB of pages in the pool with IOPH (IO per hour weighted average) above 10 which would could have significant benefit from being ...

By design, T0 should always be full (unless the other tiers are already empty and there is not even enough to fill up T0 or unless tier policies are in use to artificially limit how much data from each volume is allowed in T0). Data is not prevented from moving up to a higher tier just because it has low ...

Colin, Look at the Frequency Distribution Graph which should be available from the Tier Properties window. This will show you how much capacity produces which level of workload and is a good indicator of how big each tier should be (and how many tiers you should have). You could also look at the Tier ...

Contact your account sales rep and ask them if they will loan you a license (which is at their discretion).

The datasheet has the transfer rates (2GB/s read, 1GB/s write) The drive interface is 12GB/s but in the F1500 the backend is 6GB/s SAS so I suspect you would use 6GB/s even though there are lots of 6GB/s links I dont think seek time is relevant but I suppose like with RPM you could use a really low number ...

And for the block interface, the answer is also no. There is a different board to support 10G/1G Copper iSCSI connections. You would have to add a pair(s) of these boards or replace the optical iSCSI boards with them

An HDP pool requires 4GiB for metadata overhead so you need to make it a little bigger if you are going to fill it to 100%. If you want to confirm you have enough physical space with no over-provisioning I would create all your DP-vols as fully allocated. This will reserve all the physical space they ...

For all G/F systems The largest LDEV you can create (to thick provision to a host or use as a pool-volume): - From an external virtualized PG (i.e. from another storage array)  is 4,294,967,296 KB (4 TB, 8,589,934,592 blocks) - From an internal PG is  3,221,159,680 KB  (2.99 TB, 6,442,319,360 blocks) ...

Direct attach means no switch between the HBA and the storage port. Point to Point is a Fibre Channel protocol mode and is an alternative to configuring the port to use Arbitrated Loop (FC-AL). In the provisioning guide you will find tables for each I/O board model indicating when to use which mode depending ...

Direct attach is supported. It needs to be Point to Point for 16G. You can find this and other information in the Provisioning Guide.

You definitely dont need professional services. If you mean the Support Center, you should only call them if you run into a problem. If you mean Customer Service and Support, yes, they can load licenses, but many customers can do this themselves.

G400 -> G600 is non-disruptive. You just install and enable the license key to get the additional performance potential and expanded system limits.

You should not allocate all of the logical capacity of the PGs unless you know your data will compress at 8:1 which is unlikely ( even >2:1 is not common). The Provisioning Guide has more detail but in general you should probably only allocate the physical capacity (or maybe an additional 25-50%), ingest ...

Yes you can do this. Encrypting the PGs in a NAS HDP pool does not create any limitations compared to non-encrypted PGs. The only limitation of encryption is that you cannot enable Accelerated Compression with the current generation FMD but that is unrelated to NAS

Although this is supported, it is not best practice. If your pool fails your journals will also fail and you may prefer for journals to continue to operate to reduce your RPO. If you do share a pool, it is best practice to make the journal volumes fully allocated so they are not over subscribed. Note ...

Satoshi, You can look up whether your specific configuration is supported in this interoperability document VSP G1X00, F1500, GX00, FX00, VSP, HUS VM AIX Support Matrix But FYI if you prefer to use HDLM, the G200 (and all G/F models) allows unlimited use of HDLM. The license key should be in the SVOS ...
