Hi Guys, does VSP G Series has a technology something like EMC's FastCache?
Correct on both points. FastCache is only a caching mechanism, while HDT manages data across multiple tiers.
VSP G series using real cache and not using FastCache.
One advantage of HDS storages cache, its mirroring only the write cache rather than EMC which is mirroring both read and write cache.
Some might not call that an "advantage". By mirroring the read cache, you avoid having to "re-promote" blocks from disk to cache after a controller failure.
Hitachi have HDT (Hitachi Dyanamic Teiring) which inlculdes SSDs with SAS drives combined which automate intelligent data placement to improve performance.
HDT is much more similar to FAST-VP. The original poster was asking about FastCache. Thanks!
Hi Guys thanks for the reply. So does it mean that VSP doesnt have the same technology like FastCache because Hitachi is using a different approach (HDT). What I understand is that FastCache is dynamic but for caching purposes only, am I correct?
Thanks guys for the fast reply
