Apple 10.12.5 fails to connect to server via smb or cifs it worked in 10.12.4 the server is Hitachi NAS (HNAS) and we are running code version 12.3.3826.14, it just hangs trying to connect at the stage just before the login window appears.
Sorry this isn't a solution. I do have a similar problem. We are running on 13.0 on our NAS and we have been seeing that the cifs shares mapped to mac systems, have some strange issues with permissions. We tried mapping with cifs and smb.. no hope. We see the share has full permission for the user, but still they are not able to save the files they use. This seems to be another strange issue with apple users using HNAS CIFS shares.
Any help is appreciated.
I suggest that you open a support request (https://support.hds.com/en_us/contact-us.html) so that we can help you to diagnose and resolve this problem. HNAS is tested and supported with macOS 10.12 (Sierra).
I have the same problem. Can't connect via SMB, AFP or CIFS.
With AFP, I get to the login popup, and then get this message: "The version of the server you are trying to connect to is not supported." With SMG and CIFS, it just hangs on "Connect to..."
Hi, I just updated to Mac OS Sierra 10.12.5, and now can no longer connect to our local server.
It is a lacie 2big network 2 with a Hitachi drive.
My computer is: iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) with 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5
I am able to connect to the internet, but the Shared servers on my company’s ethernet network.
curious...what are the minimum and maximum SMB versions enabled on the EVS? And is digital signing enabled on the Mac?
I don't know the answers to those questions. :-(
Usually it something that you set for your self on the HNAS. You can limit the SMB version on the NAS which says as the maximum supported version. The command is "smb-max-supported-version".
Sorry I do not know about digital signing.
