Can anyone explain why HDS is asking us to pay for licensing again for our new arrays? We are migrating from a pair USPs to USP-Vs with AMS2500s behind them. Is this normal practice? They've tried to explain that it is cheaper to buy the licenses again for the new arrays rather then migrating our existing licenses from the USPs to the Vs and AMS units.

I do understand that the software is licensed differently on the USP-Vs and AMS units and that the enterprise licensing is done mostly by TB. What I don't understand is why they are expecting us to pay for the software licensing again.

The software we are looking at is simply:

- Device Manager
- Tuning Manager
- Replication Manager
- HDLM

Any insights?
