Hi all,

If there is anybody out there with good knowledge of the working of VSS and the RAID Manager Shadow Copy Provider I would appreciate you contacting me - nigel AT rupturedmonkey dot C-0-M

My issue is this -

The following operation does not discover all of the hidden volumes in the system -

CVssHardwareProviderWrapper::GetHiddenVolumeList:

The above does not discover hidden volumes despite the fact that there are several present and appropriately surfaced on the system as shown by the following -

DISKPART> list vol

  Volume ###  Ltr  Label        Fs     Type        Size     Status     Info
  ----------  ---  -----------  -----  ----------  -------  ---------  --------
  Volume 0     C   C_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition     16 GB  Healthy    System
  Volume 1     D   D_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition   4103 MB  Healthy
  Volume 2     E   E_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition   4299 MB  Healthy
  Volume 3         C_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition     16 GB  Healthy
  Volume 4         D_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition   4103 MB  Healthy
  Volume 5         E_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition   4299 MB  Healthy
  Volume 6         H_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition   4989 MB  Healthy
  Volume 7         G_DRIVE      NTFS   Partition     49 GB  Healthy
  Volume 8     F                       DVD-ROM         0 B  Healthy

DISKPART> sel vol 3

Volume 3 is the selected volume.

DISKPART> det vol

  Disk ###  Status      Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt

* Disk 5    Online        24 GB      0 B

Readonly               : Yes
Hidden                 : Yes
No Default Drive Letter: Yes
Shadow Copy            : Yes

DISKPART> sel vol 4

Volume 4 is the selected volume.

DISKPART> det vol

  Disk ###  Status      Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
  --------  ----------  -------  -------  ---  ---
* Disk 5    Online        24 GB      0 B

Readonly               : Yes
Hidden                 : Yes
No Default Drive Letter: Yes
Shadow Copy            : Yes

DISKPART> sel vol 5

Volume 5 is the selected volume.

DISKPART> det vol

  Disk ###  Status      Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
  --------  ----------  -------  -------  ---  ---
* Disk 5    Online        24 GB      0 B

Readonly               : Yes
Hidden                 : Yes
No Default Drive Letter: Yes
Shadow Copy            : Yes

etc etc etc

Anybody with any thoughts or knowledge on what the hardware provider actually does when it performs a CVssHardwareProviderWrapper::GetHiddenVolumeList:

Many thanks!
