I am very new in Hitachi technology. My client has purchased Hitachi VSP. Could you please refer some documents which will give me fare idea on basic details and how to start working on VSP.
LDKC is a set of control unit tables, each of the ldkc contains 256 control unit tables. the ldkc can be either set as 0 or 1. ldkc=0 is exclusively used for OPEN systems/ldevs. Mainframe supports both 0 and 1.
control unit is a logical entity, All the ldev's that have been carved out of an RG have to be a part of a CU. A CU can have a maximum of 256 LDEVs.
LDEV's are created from Raid group/parity groups.
Hello Mrityunjoy, do you mind saying this... I believe HDS Academy has a very class for Intro to Entreprise Storage. I believe there also is some CBT (not sure though). Then once covered, yes, add more questions if out of class you still have clarification needed. JL
If you are new to Hitachi Storage then i would suggest you register with HDS academy for the foundation course, also register in https://portal.hds.com as a customer by providing the serial number of the VSP and download the product documents and go through that can be helpful if you have working knowledge of some enterprise storages
But I strongly suggest If you want to know the basics and the underlying architecture go for a course from HDS Academy as JL said.
Thanks for your reply.
I have previous experience on HP EVA storage. Can you describe how the address scheme works on HDS VSP.
I mean LDKC:CU:LDEV
I could not find any document which gives clear idea on this.
