Can Someone explain the diff between iSCSI SAN vs FC SAN ?
I'm new here, so I'm not sure of the quality of answers that people are accustomed to, but I would say that:
-a iSCSI SAN will link hosts with disks via an Ethernet network and generally require an Ethernet switch. Access/security will be controlled by IP addresses, routing, and firewall rules. This will probably be cheaper than an FC SAN, especially if your using 1Gb copper ethernet cables and off-the-shelf switches. Host Bus Adapter cards on individual servers will be Ethernet cards (usually 1 Gb copper)
-a FC SAN will link host with disks via a Fiber network and generally require a Fiber switch. Access/security will be controlled by WWNNs, Zones, and fiber switch links.Host Bus Adapters on individual servers will be Fiber cards (usually 8Gb Fiber cards)
