Need to migrate the data from IBM DS4000 storage to VSP , can we doing it using HTSM?
Can provide the procedure also?
First, you need to virtualize the DS4000 on VSP with Universal Volume Manager (license needed)
Virtualize external volumes with one-to-one LDEV mapping
The general procedure is in the documentation "Hitachi Universal Volume Manager User Guide" - MK-90RD7033-10
Then, create VSP internal volumes, same size in blocks to external ones
Stop all I/O to DS4000, publish DS4000 volumes through VSP ports and reattach hosts to VSP to resume I/O
And finally, move the external LDEV to internal LDEV with HTSM, VM or SI quick reverse resync (in this last case, no host I/O during quick resync stage).
If you are familiar with volume migrations, you need to read the Universal Volume Manager documentation to know how to virtualize storages. Once the DS4000 is virtualized, the migration process is similar to internal migrations.
Ask your local HDS support about the Non-Disruptive Migration techniques which seamlessly migrates data from HDS/non-HDS arrays. You normally don't need to have a application downtime for the migration. I think HDS is doing NDM right now as GSS service.
